I am recommending fewer expose and ligations as the 9500 System clearly shows complications to these procedures that I have never seen before. I am much better able to guide expose and ligation extrusion paths with the 3D images. I am able to see the intimate details of the impacted teeth's relationships with the adjacent teeth. One of the more intriguing aspects of using 3D images is that as I create and manipulate the "pano" view I see that our 2D panographic images are flawed in showing parallelism of the roots of the teeth. A minor change in the arch of focus for that image can have dramatic impact on its view and projection of the roots. Where I once trusted the pano to give me the information I needed to adjust the wire or replace brackets to obtain root parellelism, I am now very skeptical of this view.

I have seen canines physically "trapped" between anatomical "land mines" and have recommended removal over exposure and ligation. I am certain I have avoided many headaches and stresses for several patients as a result. I have seen supernumerary teeth that were out of the field of focus of analog panos sent to me from other offices but are crystal clear in the volumetric scan and the pano view created from it. Again, avoiding delays in treatment and other complications. The software is the easiest to use of all the 3D software I have seen and I truly have been amazed at the number of details I have been missing without this invaluable tool.
